What does a Professional Dominatrix read? What TV shows do they watch? Well, it turns out we’re all different, so I can only answer what THIS Pro Domme reads and watches. I haven’t shared a reading and watching post in a while. I didn’t read much at all after my friend passed in October, and didn’t start reading again until early December, so conveniently there’s a gap in my reading. I may not remember or document everything, especially the porn, but I’ll try and share the highlights.

Books
Someone You Can Build a Nest in by John Wiswell - an adult fantasy novel. The main character, Shesheshen, is in fact a monster. What happens when a monster falls in love? What happens when the woman she falls in love with doesn’t know she’s a monster? What makes a monster? Absolutely gripping read, a beautiful and atypical romance and love, full of navigating societies, with great battle scenes and monster type things.
Bad Witch Burning by Jessica Lewis - I read this book almost entirely on the train ride from St. Paul to Chicago. It’s a Young Adult fantasy novel. It’s fairly grim, honestly. Some things I enjoyed were: the explanation of poverty calculations in our main character’s motivations, the young woman finding her power and autonomy in a situation where most of hers has been stripped away, a ride or die best friend, the interesting magic and consequences thereof. Also, no romance. While I love romance, it was extremely fitting that this book had none.
Court of the Vampire Queen by Katee Robert - This starts with the smut right out the gate, and does so with panache in my opinion. Chock full of sex, there’s also a fantasy plot, with vampires and other mystical creatures who live alongside the humans, mostly undetected. There’s a harem of sexy vampire men for our main woman character, and there’s plenty of gay and bisexual group scenes. Whomst among us doesn’t want to watch the two powerful vampire men in her life take the length of each others’ supernaturally rigid member into their orifices? While they reckon with a past emotional falling out with the third beautiful vampire man, mostly with their dicks but also with their words? And usurp her horrible vampire father, thus creating an entirely new magical empire? Fantastic. No notes. Well, some notes, but it was definitely enjoyable.
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna - Extremely fun, hopeful, funny, sweet adult fantasy book with a lovely romance in it. The main character, Mika Moon, is a witch, and like the other witches works hard to keep her magic a secret. But someone summons her, asking her to please tutor three young burgeoning witches. This would be wildly outside of protocol for her and the other witches she knows, as they gather only rarely to prevent magical outbursts. She goes anyways, and finds more than just a tutoring job. A little heavy handed, a little too “sarcastic and quippy” perhaps, on some of the dialogue, but so wonderful I don’t think I thought about it until I’d finished and thoroughly enjoyed the book.
Drag Me Up by R. M. Virtues - an erotic romance story with a loose base in the Persephone and Hades story. There is some really wonderful kinky sex and well done, quick BDSM negotiations in this book. Despite that, I decided to “Do Not Finish” (DNF) this one. The political struggle in the fantasy world is not quite compelling enough. The interpersonal conflict between Persephone and her mother and with Zeus help carry the story along. The romance between Hades and Persephone is palpable, though Hades is SUCH a perfect man that it’s a bit unbelievable. He does carry the burden of fixing all his brother’s mistakes, which does make him an enabler/conflict smoother over to a fault, but it’s framed like a virtue of his responsibility and selflessness. It’s like when a job interviewer asks “What’s your greatest weakness” and you respond with “being a perfectionist” or “working too hard”. This might be a small spoiler, but both Persephone and Hades are trans in this book, and while I think that’s a fantastic inclusion and plays into some of their dealings with the world and others in a unique and interesting way, it wasn’t enough to keep me in the story. As far as I can tell, while this is a fantasy setting, there are no gods or demi gods or magic of any kind, and I think that would have been more fun for me personally.
Wuvable Oaf by Ed Luce - A graphic novel that delights me. Some of the humor, especially that around the indie/punk music scene, is very of its time (2010s), but in a way that made me nostalgic. It’s a completely queer story, though it’s not really mentioned at all. It focuses a lot on Oaf’s relationship with his numerous and strange cats, music, and his search for love, though it also highlights stories and arcs with many other delightfully strange characters. The art is so wonderful.
Worn, A People’s History of Clothing by Sofi Thanhauser - I’ve only just started this nonfiction book about clothing, textiles, and their production and how and why we wear what we do. So far it’s fantastic.
Other Reading - more “Strangers in A Tangled Wilderness” zines, though I haven’t read all of them since I last posted, and Questionable Content which is a webcomic I’ve been reading for literally half my life now.

It also would have been hotter if they had emphasized the mom and daughter together (or resisting being together) even more. And it would’ve been hotter if the mom and daughter were more active agents, perhaps even plotting together, instead of the creepy dudes at the hot spring initiating everything. I still came.
[Unoroute (UnoUsaya)] Enjoying Outdoor Poop - Sometime in January, I stumbled upon the hentai artist uno usaya and their poop themed hentai. I read through all of them, and while none of them have my preferred themes of female domination via scat and disgust, they do incorporate my fascination with lack of bodily control, extreme shame, disgust, and such that scat evokes. This particular one focuses on enjoying the sexual pleasure of the shame which made it my favorite. (There were some more about constipation and that, for whatever reason, doesn’t do much for me.)

Movies: Terrifier (SO GOOD but also too scary for me), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (fun), The Family Stone (horrible, but with some relatability that intrigues I suppose).
Shows: Spy x Family (a very silly anime that I LOVE), Heated Rivalry (very hyped right now, very enjoyable imo). I’m certain I’m missing some shows I dabbled in, but that’s what I remember right now.
I’m probably missing a fair amount in here, but again, this is highlights. In other news, the ICE “drawdown” is happening in the twin cities. The official plan will still leave more than 4 times the number of agents than were originally stationed here. New vehicles are still being delivered to the Whipple building. Abductions continue. I found out another one of my friends, someone I met early in joining the kink scene, passed away. And lastly, in good news, my spouse and I have adopted three wonderful sweet playful kittens. We meant to get two, a bonded pair, but the pair we found was still living with another sibling, so we adopted all three. It’s been so lovely to have cats in the house again, though they are definitely a handful - squirming, playing, wrestling, nuzzling handfuls.
